Starts, stops and changes
So much to catch up on. It’s astonishing how many things have changed for me in the last month, so I’ll just stick to the highlights. For starters:
On May 15, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin. The ceremony was mostly a bore, but many many members of my family came down to celebrate. That was fun. I suppose this is a good time to give much-deserved but greatly insufficient thanks to four outstanding instructors, my roommates, friends and co-workers — not to mention my parents, who were very helpful and supportive. (Even during my “aimless college student” phase sophomore year.)
After a week at home in Green Lake, I moved to Chicago. Now I’m an official resident of Wicker Park, a neighborhood on the northwest side of the city. It’s got everything we could ask for — reasonable prices, proximity to roads and public transportation, a 15-minute El ride to work, and lots of great bars and restaurants. (Oh, and I live with my lovely girlfriend, Michelle. But you already knew that, eh?)
I started work at FeedBurner a couple of weeks ago, a fact I am still attempting to come to terms with. Not only is FeedBurner involved with the very things (e.g. blogs, RSS, web applications) that have kept my mind busy over the last three years, but it’s a fun place to work, the people rule*, and I’m already getting a chance to work directly on FeedBurner’s core application. I’ll spare you much more enthusiasm, but it’s practically a dream job.

* If any of you “people who rule” are reading, sorry to call you out in public. Fooling people into thinking that you do not rule when, in fact, you do, is tough work. I promise to not impede your progress any further :-)
