Roadtrip!
Part of the reason I haven’t written here in, well, forever, is that Michelle and I just returned from a roadtrip. The final destination was Mackinac Island, Michigan — but in proper roadtrip fashion it was all about the journey. We took our time getting up there, visiting small towns and campgrounds along the way.
We also managed to take a bunch of pictures. This time, I left my Canon Powershot G2 at home and relied on the diminutive (but handy) Sony Ericsson S710a that lives it my pocket. It’s a mighty nice camera phone that more than makes up for its lack of quality with convenience. Had I been toting my Canon, I probably would’ve captured 20 photos instead of 50. (Lucky for you, but a bit sad for me and my aching memory.)
In the interest of keeping things short, here’s a quick list of the Goods and Bads from our trip: (Keep in mind that the Bads were not so bad at all.)
Goods
- Relaxing on slow-paced Mackinac Island. (There are no cars on the island!)
- Seeing Michigan’s beautiful western coast — Leland, Frankfort, Charlevoix, Petoskey.
- Camping at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
- Spending some quality time with my girl.
Bads
- The crowded and trashy Orchard Beach State Park. Probably won’t be going back there :-)
- Indiana, Crossroads of America. Psshha!
We now return to your irregularly scheduled blog programming.
