Blogging is hard (and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise)

So, is this my excuse for not writing here in over a month? Well, yes.

The Bad News

After I graduated, moved, started work and pretty much changed everything else about my life, I had a lot to say. A lot to share. And naturally, I thought, “I’ll write about all this cool stuff on my blog. It will be great. My loyal readers [which have probably long since departed] will follow along with all my new adventures. They’ll be captivated. I’ll be a perfect little blogger.”

Turns out, there was so much to say that I didn’t know where to start. So I didn’t. I let it sit for a while, then slowly crept back into posting links to Meanwhile. I timidly began to snap some pictures and post them to Flickr. Earlier tonight, when I sat down to write a summary entry, I had a hard time condensing my thoughts into something coherent and manageable.

But once I started writing, everything was fine. Then I started this post. I feel like I could write all night.

The Good News

Even though I have a hard time making time for this weblog, it’s good to know that my voice and my ability to write have not left me. I’m currently in the process of trying to establish a rhythm, a routine and a sense of order for life in general, and blogging is no exception.

If I want to keep up with this site (and I do), it needs to be an integral part of my life. I need to pay attention. I need to get (and stay) organized so ideas for good posts don’t slip away. I’d do well to read Keith’s excellent tips. The good news about all of this is: it can’t get much worse!

So now that I’m going again, I hope to keep things moving around here. There’s definitely plenty to say. I even have an idea for a new design in my notepad. (No promises on that, though.)

See you around.
